Description
Technical Parameters

Titanium sprocket bolts from NAVI Titanium are the fasteners that clamp a sprocket or chainring to the hub flange and carry drive torque from the chain through to the wheel. Not a power source, they are the load-path node taking clamping, shear and reversed bending on every stroke. For distributors that reads commercially: the mass saving sits at the wheel, the joint refuses to seize after winter salt, and the part sells as a visible upgrade instead of a consumable. NAVI Titanium runs M8 x 1.25 as stock and prices bespoke sizes off a drawing inside one working day.

Solutions of NAVI Titanium

Five properties decide whether titanium bolts justify their price, and every one shows on the machine, not a datasheet. Mass: about 45% under steel, and at the wheel it counts twice, in acceleration and in direction changes. Specific strength: Gr5 Ti-6Al-4V reaches alloy-steel figures at roughly 60% of the density, so nothing is traded away. Corrosion: the self-healing oxide film ignores seawater, road salt and degreasers, and outlasts stainless. Fatigue: high endurance strength suits the alternating load a sprocket applies thousands of times each hour. Anodising gives gold, blue, green or rainbow as an oxide grown out of the metal, not paint that chips.

Dome, countersunk and flange (umbrella) heads cover nearly every order we ship, driven by hex socket or Torx. Send a print and NAVI Titanium will match any profile we do not list - tighter under-head radius, waisted shank, drilled head for lockwire. Stock thread is M8 at 1.25 mm pitch; M6 and M10 are cut to your drawing.

Application

Two jobs drive most demand: pinning a sprocket to the rear hub, and a chainring to a crankset. Both sit in the drive path, both take shock rather than steady pull. Steel handles the clamp well but loses on mass, corrosion and hole wear. NAVI Titanium titanium bolts answer all three at once, which is why race paddocks adopt them first.

Motorcycle Rear Sprocket (Off-road, Motocross, Street, ADV)

The rear sprocket is the harshest place to put a fastener. Every acceleration, hard downshift and landing reverses the load, so titanium sprocket bolts work in shear and in bearing against the sprocket hole far more than in pure tension.

Two consequences follow. First, mass out here is rotating mass: grams removed at the hub pay back twice, in acceleration and in suspension response, because the wheel no longer drags that weight through every stroke. Second, the bolt hole is the real wear item - a bolt that frets and ovalises the hole lets the sprocket walk, and a walking sprocket destroys chain and teeth together.

Titanium keeps preload through that cycling, and the oxide film keeps the joint serviceable after a season of mud, pressure washing and salted winter roads. Teams on dirt and ADV machines renew hardware with every sprocket change, so NAVI Titanium supplies matched sets with nuts.

Bicycle Chainring and Crankset (MTB and Road)

On a bicycle the same fastener moves to the crankset, where loading changes. Torque arrives in pulses - each pedal stroke peaks and unloads - and the bolts must stop the rings indexing against the spider while staying light enough to justify their cost.

The sprocket bolts suit that duty because of how the material behaves: Gr5 delivers the strength the M8 section needs, and the lower elastic modulus of titanium lets the shank stretch slightly more at a given preload, so peaks are absorbed instead of passed into the ring. Weight off the crank shows up in sprint response and in how fast the bike exits a corner.

For MTB the payoff is durability through grit, mud and repeated washing; for road and gravel, a coloured anodised set is often the only visible finishing part on the drivetrain. NAVI Titanium supplies chainring sets with matched nuts and hex or Torx drives.

Quality control (QC)

Every order leaves our ISO 9001 facility carrying a heat number traceable to the mill certificate, alongside tensile, hardness and thread-gauging records. NAVI Titanium publish the sheets rather than a summary of them. Press the COA button below to read the actual inspection report for chemistry, mechanical properties and dimensional checks on the batch you are buying.

Titanium Bolts Manufacturing Process

From raw bar to release-ready bolt, every NAVI Titanium titanium sprocket bolt passes through six controlled settings. Each step is built around a single non-negotiable goal - a fastener that seats flat, resists fatigue, and can be traced to its source. The table below lays out what happens at each stage and the quality point it exists to protect.

Setting Core Process Key Quality Point
1. Bar Release & Alloy Identity Bar arrives with a mill certificate; every length is PMI-verified before reaching the header. A mixed rack is unrecoverable by any later check - alloy identity is fixed at the door.
2. Cut-off & Head Forming Lengths cut, head formed in a closed die. Dome, countersunk, flange heads; also the under-head fillet radius - a sharp corner there becomes the crack that ends the bolt.
3. CNC Profiling of Bearing Faces Turning centres finish load-carrying surfaces: flange face, countersink angle, waisted shank, drilled head (where lockwire specified). Holding head square to shank keeps the fastener seated flat under full preload.
4. Thread Rolling, Not Cutting Threads are rolled. Rolling aligns grain flow along the form and work-hardens the root - exactly where a sprocket bolt would otherwise fatigue; every batch checked with go/no-go gauges at 1.25 mm pitch.
5. Heat Treatment & Anodised Finish Gr5 solution-treated and aged to full strength, then anodised. Color is voltage-controlled; oxide grows from the metal so it cannot flake; layer thickness measured, not judged by eye.
6. Lot Release Release covers tensile & hardness samples, salt-spray on the anodised surface, thread gauging, dimensional report. Each bag carries a lot code tying it back to bar stock, furnace charge and inspector.

Titanium Sprocket Bolts - Dimensional Range

Dimensions below are the sizes ordered most, given as a reference band, not a promise; final figures are fixed against your print before tooling starts. Send a sample or drawing and NAVI Titanium quote the exact set. The sprocket bolts in M8 x 1.25 ship from stock, and anything outside that range is made to order in the same cell.

What NAVI Titanium Puts Behind Every Sprocket Bolt Order

Drawing-based production and OEM programmes

Most of what leaves our plant was never in a catalogue. Send a print, a sample, or a photograph with dimensions, and we produce to it: non-standard length, waisted shank, reduced head diameter to clear a guard, drilled head for lockwire, left-hand thread, custom flange.

OEM programmes run the same way - your drawing is held under NDA, tooling stays yours, and we price against annual volume, not one-off quantity. Buyers ask three things first: minimum order for a bespoke dimension, whether tooling is charged, and how long a first sample takes.

We answer all three in writing with the quote, because a drawing that cannot be priced in a day is no use to a team working to a launch date. NAVI Titanium also handles own-brand packaging, laser-marked part numbers and barcoded bags, so titanium sprocket bolts land on your shelf ready to sell, not needing repacking in your warehouse.

Titanium Sprocket Bolts Color | NAVI Titanium

Color that is grown, not applied

Color on sprocket bolts is not a coating. NAVI Titanium grow it: the part becomes the anode in an electrolytic cell, and the oxide thickness we build decides which wavelength is reflected - gold, blue, green, purple, bronze or a rainbow sweep across one set. Because the layer is integral to the metal it cannot chip or flake the way paint and PVD do, and it adds no measurable thickness, so thread fit is untouched.

Two things follow in production. Color is voltage-controlled and repeatable, but unforgiving of preparation: a fingerprint left before anodising shows as a dull patch, so parts are ultrasonically cleaned and handled only with gloves after the final rinse. The base alloy shifts the shade slightly between runs, so we anodise a whole order in one load and file a reference chip with the lot code.

Order a matched set in one go, or send a chip.

Batch consistency and delivery you can plan around

Consistency separates a fastener supplier from a machine shop. Every production lot of NAVI Titanium titanium sprocket bolts is released against one checklist - alloy identity from the mill certificate, tensile and hardness samples, thread gauging, dimensional report - and the results are filed under a lot code printed on the bag, so a question raised two seasons later traces back to the bar, the furnace charge and the inspector who signed it off.

Reorders repeat against that record, not a fresh setup, which is why the second batch matches the first in fit and in shade. On delivery, stock sizes move at once and bespoke runs are booked to a date confirmed in writing; if a date slips, you hear it from us first. Response is part of the product: enquiries come back with a price and a drawing, not a brochure, and technical questions reach the people who set up the machines.

FAQ

Q1. We distribute in Germany and the UK. What paperwork ships with a load-bearing fastener?

+

-

Each lot carries a lot code and a Certificate of Analysis covering chemistry and mechanical properties, with EN 10204 3.1 where your quality system requires it. Standard material is Gr5 Ti-6Al-4V to ASTM F136 / AMS 4928. JIS or house specs quoted at enquiry. RoHS and REACH statements on request.

Q2. Will titanium attack the aluminium hub?

+

-

Titanium is noble, so in wet salt the aluminium gives first. Assemble with anti-seize or a copper-free compound and torque to roughly 55–60% of the steel figure. Never dry-torque into aluminium.

Q3. We ride year-round in Southeast Asian humidity and mud. What is the service life, and how often should we check?

+

-

The bolt outlasts the sprocket. Check torque after the first ride, then at every chain service. Mechanical damage ends life, not corrosion. Rinse after salt exposure.

Q4. How do we replace them in a workshop, and do the nuts have to be renewed too?

+

-

Renew nuts with bolts - disturbed nuts lose locking action. Undo in a cross pattern, clean mating faces, apply anti-seize, tighten in stages, re-check after the first run. Discard over-torqued bolts.

Q5. How do you control quality, and what happens if a batch is wrong?

+

-

Every lot is released against alloy identity, tensile and hardness samples, thread gauging and a dimensional report, filed under the lot code. Retained samples held per run. Out-of-drawing bolts are replaced, not repaired - send lot code and photos for traceability.
