Origin of National Day
Modern China has experienced long and arduous years. War continues, people's lives wither, the country suffers from bullying, and millions of people are deeply trapped in suffering. Countless patriots have stepped forward, advancing one after another for national independence and the liberation of the people, and embarked on the path of saving the nation and striving for survival. After decades of arduous struggle, under the leadership of the CPC, the people finally overthrew the heavy oppression and ushered in the dawn of national liberation.
On October 1, 1949, in the golden autumn season of Beijing, the sky was clear and bright. On the magnificent Tiananmen Square, 300000 people from all walks of life and ethnic groups gathered, eagerly awaiting that historic moment with excitement and anticipation. At 3 pm, the founding ceremony officially began. Chairman Mao Zedong ascended the Tiananmen Gate Tower and solemnly declared to the world: * * The Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China has been established today! **
As the words fell, the whole room boiled with excitement. Accompanied by the passionate and majestic "March of the Volunteers", the first five-star red flag of New China slowly rose above the square. 54 salute cannons fired 28 times in unison, and the rumbling sound of the cannons echoed over the city of Beijing. The orderly and majestic People's Liberation Army troops passed through Tiananmen Square for inspection, with tanks and cavalry formations advancing in an orderly manner. The crowd on the square waved red flags and flowers, and the cheers grew louder and louder. Many people were so excited that they shed tears. At this moment, it marks the ancient Chinese nation bidding farewell to the humiliating old era, and the Chinese people have stood up and truly become the masters of the country.
However, on the day of the founding ceremony, the National Day date has not been determined. On October 9, 1949, at the first meeting of the first National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, member Ma Xulun proposed to designate October 1 as the National Day of the People's Republic of China. He believes that the founding ceremony is the most important symbol of the birth of New China and is worth commemorating every year. The proposal received widespread support from the attending committee members. On December 2 of the same year, the Fourth Meeting of the Central People's Government Committee officially voted and passed a resolution: starting from 1950, October 1 of each year will be designated as the National Day of the People's Republic of China.
